On the cusp of the wave 5 amiibo launch in North America, some of fall’s most highly-anticipated amiibo compatible games have become available to pre-order with amiibo figures bundled inside. Yoshi’s Woolly World comes bundled with a Green Yarn Yoshi amiibo, while Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival comes bundled with two amiibo figures and three of the upcoming amiibo cards. As has been the case with many amiibo products, there is some confusion about these bundles and despite that, they appear to be selling out quickly.

Yoshi’s Woolly World is scheduled to release on October 16, 2015 in the United States alongside three distinctly colored plush Yarn Yoshi amiibo made from actual yarn. At E3 2015, Nintendo revealed non-Yoshi amiibo toys can be used in the game to give Yarn Yoshi fun, costume-like character skins. Confirmed skins include Samus Yarn Yoshi and Mario Yarn Yoshi.

Amazon.com currently has a product listing for both the bundle and the standalone game, but the bundle is not yet available for pre-order. Toys “R” Us has recently opened pre-orders for the Yoshi’s Woolly World bundle; however, as of this writing, pre-orders have seemingly sold out since the product page has been removed. When the page was up, the bundle was listed for $59.99 USD, a ten dollar markup over the standard edition. Considering amiibo typically cost anywhere from $12 to $15 USD depending on the retailer, the bundle gives fans a small savings.

In Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, players get to play a board game that looks quite similar to Mario Party but with Animal Crossing-inspired game mechanics. As an example, game boards are seasonal and based on calendar-specific events or holidays. Amiibo figures unlock specific characters in the game, like Tom Nook and K.K. Slider. Amiibo cards, however, unlock additional party mini-games.

Retailers have been somewhat inconsistent in making the game and/or prospective bundle available for pre-order. Amazon.com has the bundle product page listed on their site but has yet to activate the pre-order option. Similar to the Yoshi’s Woolly World bundle, Toys “R” Us has taken down the amiibo Festival bundle product page. When the page was up, it showed Isabelle and Digby as the two amiibo figures included in the bundle. The quick sellout of these bundles is remarkably different from the previously released Mario Party 10 amiibo bundle, which can still be found in stock at select retailers.

It is also possible Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival may only be sold in a bundle, as Nintendo has done in the past with games like Wii Play. GameStop has made amiibo Festival available for pre-order at the suggested retail price of $59.99 USD. Upon closer look at the product page, just above the product details, the non-bundle is said to include the game, two amiibo figures and three amiibo cards — exactly what the bundle is supposed to contain. The photo is also the same one Toys “R” Us used for its bundle product page. Other retailers, like Walmart, have amiibo Festival available for pre-order at the similar price of $59.97 USD, but do not mention if amiibo figures or cards are included. Nintendo’s official amiibo Festival page does not divulge any additional product details at this time, either.

Customers can only continue to hope (and politely request at their local retailer or through Nintendo customer support) for clear and accurate product descriptions to become available prior to Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival‘s anticipated holiday, 2015, release. Given the track record and popularity of amiibo products, collectors may want to pre-order first and ask questions later.
